Orphanage Building Permits Approved

CONSTRUCTION BEGINS

Your thoughts and prayers have brought the prospects for the India “orphanage” to an entirely new level. The seller exchanged the rocky, hilly land previously contracted for with a far more valuable parcel in a new residential community. I

Workers digging fifteen square holes for footings for columns. Note buildings in backround. There are columns rising above the existing structures. These will later support additional upper floors.

In order to secure an adequate supply of pure water, it was necessary to drill a well 650 feet deep. The well and submersible pump were paid for with designated offerings to Cross Trainers.

Each of the fifteen holes is 4 feet wide, 4 feet long, and 4 feet deep. It cost $150 US dollars to have all fifteen dug by hand. These will be filled with steel-reinforced concrete footings, then 15 columns will rise three stories from these foundations.

Looks like the woman is doing the heavy lifting here!

    15th Child Added!

When Pastor Issac Raju of Hyderabad first opened the Joy Becker orphanage, he was deliberate and cautious. He wanted to be able to offer loving care and proper attention to each child, so he limited it to nine children. Over the past few months, he has been adding children, and now the number has reached fifteen.

On about the 20th of each month, we send him funds. Most of the money is for the operation of the orphanage, though one family designates $100 to support Pastor Issac's family and help him with his ministry. He has trained numerous workers, opened many house churches, and has been able to establish a number of conventional churches.

This month he introduced a challenge that is long overdue.

    $11,000 will build new orphanage

We have been entrusted with $6,000 in matching funds of which $4,000 remain. So for every dollar that comes in designated for construction, we can double it up to a total of $4,000. That means we will have $8,000 of the $11,000 needed to construct the orphanage. You may send your tax deductible donations care of Cross Trainers Ministries, Inc, 21518 Karpathos Ln, Spring, TX 77388-3262. Your entire offering will be forwarded to India, with nothing deducted for "overhead" or expenses.

Pastor Issac's Evangelistic Outreach

Pastor Issac recently sent photographs of a gospel program he conducted in a village of 1,000 people about 180 miles from Hyderabad. These folks had never before heard the gospel. Here are Issac's words:

Brother, we have whole day gospel program with village people. 1000 people are staying in a remote village 300km from the city on hill side. They are non Christians in this village. We are the first people enrting the village and presenting Christ to them. All the people attended the meeting. One girl believed in Christ and was baptized. Her name is Jjoythi. After the meeting,I provided food to all.

Before Joythi's Baptism

Below is a picture of Joythi as she prepares to be pressed beneath the water in this tiny stone tank. There is no water in this tent city, even for drinking. It must be tanked in at great expense. So baptism is a challenge The greater challenge that Joythi faces is ostracism by her Hindu family and the possibility of injury or death. She is aware of the danger of being first in her village to follow the Lord in baptism.
